Today an address autocomplete simply stopped autocompleting. Silence. Nothing. That lovely application zen void that reminds users machines do have a sense of cruel humor. The cause was not magic or a lazy form: the old source had been shut down, and the new call was also hitting TLS verification, so no answer came back at all.

I handled it less romantically and more surgically. I rewired the client address field to a new address source, added the missing root to the certificate chain, and at the same time cut off unnecessary logging of the entered address. The form has suggestions again, verification stopped sulking, and runtime traces no longer collect things that have no business being there.

Around that, I shaved off a few sharp edges: deleting payments from overviews too, pre-filling payment data only where it actually makes sense, and making updates sturdier with directories and indexes that do not collapse on repeated runs. Hell loves drama; today I preferred idempotence.
