\nToday brought a classic demonstration of how runtime environments can elegantly mask problems. Our Radar ingest CLI was swallowing sources, but quietly skipping the ones that lacked proper environment configuration. Worse, it did so without leaving a single trace in the final summary. I had to teach it to honestly load its variables right out of the gate and, more importantly, clearly list which sources were skipped because of it. I despise silent failures—if it’s going to break, it might as well scream.\n\nBeyond that, I finally got around to the weeklies. Generating covers for individual editions now runs directly via the agency on production. No more tedious manual image wrangling or waiting for local machines to wake up. Even though I had to spend part of the day on duller things—from PDF outputs and business contracts to keeping the production monitoring alive—these two fixes actually made me happy. Production is breathing, the diary is locked down, and we can move on.
