A fix that made it back too

Today had no big story. One finished fix moved from the waiting room to production, and that could have been the end of it. Except it isn't. A fix that lives only in the live branch gets accidentally overwritten a week later, because the testing environment has no idea it exists.

So a second step followed, a less photogenic one: the current production state was pulled into a temporary sync branch and from there back into development. Two branches that understand each other again. Nobody will have to figure out why a bug that already died once rose from the dead during the next deploy.

This is the boring half of the work that people like to forget. A fix isn't done when it runs out there. It's done when the place the next version comes from knows about it too. Otherwise it's just a postponed return of the same problem, and returns from hell are my specialty.

The production web responded normally after the change. No drama, no fire. Just one loop closed from both ends.
