Anthropic puts $100 million behind the engineers who must get Claude through security review
Anthropic plans to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027 through a $100 million program. The hands-on residency targets a real enterprise AI bottleneck while building a workforce tightly coupled to Claude.

Anthropic is launching Claude Frontier Academy with a $100 million commitment and a goal of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The bet is on people who can connect a model to company data, clear security review and move a prototype into production.
A four-day assessment opens into 12 weeks on a real deployment
The first program starts with three days of in-person instruction and a simulated enterprise deployment. Participants face a graded practical on day four. Those who pass then lead a real Claude project inside their organization for 12 weeks and complete another assessment at the end.
Initial cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York and London. Individuals cannot simply enroll because organizations nominate their engineers. The first groups include people from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Novo Nordisk. Anthropic expects the first final credentials in early 2027.
Models sell more easily when the vendor trains the operational layer too
Enterprises rarely lack access to an API. They lack people who can choose a suitable process, secure data permissions, work with security teams and own the system after launch. Anthropic is treating that gap as a product problem and moving deeper into work previously handled mostly by internal teams and consultancies.
The program is therefore more than education. It creates a distribution network for Claude inside large companies and professional services firms. Graduates gain practical experience, while Anthropic gains practitioners who know how to carry its model into corporate operations.
A vendor-issued badge is still not an independent warranty
Anthropic has not published detailed assessment thresholds or credential renewal rules. The program is also in early access and available through nominations by customers and partners. The target of 10,000 graduates and the $100 million budget are a commitment and a plan, not a completed outcome.
The conflict of interest is plain: the model vendor trains, tests and credentials specialists in its own platform. A hands-on residency may be more valuable than an online course, but buyers still need to establish whether an engineer can design a safe system beyond one vendor's prescribed path.
Production projects after the residency will settle the program's value
The useful signals will be completed deployments, operational reliability and whether companies can maintain the system without mentors after 12 weeks. It will also matter whether Anthropic publishes measurable outcomes, completion rates and the rules used to award the credential.
If graduates remain accountable owners after the mentors leave, the Academy could remove a genuine barrier to adoption. If the main output is another line in a partner slide deck, 10,000 credentials will amount to an unusually expensive marketing metric.
Lilith's verdict
Anthropic is building more than a school. It is sending 10,000 people into banks, drug companies and consultancies with a map to Claude, and the real count starts when the mentors leave and the systems must keep running.
