OpenAI has launched a small business program built around ChatGPT Work, virtual training, in-person AI academies in the United States, new guides and a separate group of agents and technology partners. The offer is designed to translate a broad agent pitch into tasks that small companies handle every day.

Training connects ChatGPT to software companies already use

Named partners include Dropbox, Shopify, Intuit, Slack, Atlassian and Wix. OpenAI is therefore entering the small business stack through services for files, commerce, accounting, communication and websites. It describes ChatGPT Work as an agent for multistep projects across connected files and applications.

The company also cites its earlier Small Business AI Jams. OpenAI says 78% of participants built a working AI workflow in one day and 42% saved more than five hours per week with AI. Those are vendor-reported figures, but they clarify the proposition: a measurable change in routine rather than abstract familiarity with AI.

Adoption depends on turning a demo into Monday’s routine

A small business owner rarely selects a model by benchmark rank. The practical need is to reduce work across orders, customer email, catalogs and internal documents without adding another system to manage. Training and prepared examples can reduce the cost of designing that first useful workflow.

The partnerships also matter strategically to OpenAI. If ChatGPT operates inside tools a company already uses, it can become part of normal operations rather than an occasional writing window.

U.S. academies cannot solve local tax rules or permissions

The announcement places the in-person academies in the United States. European companies can use online material, but local accounting, tax, data protection and customer-language requirements remain their responsibility. Connecting an agent to email, files and financial information also demands narrow permissions and an audit trail.

Industry playbooks and saved hours will show whether it works

The useful next signal is concrete packages for retail, professional services or accounting, not webinar attendance. The program will earn credibility if partners can show repeatable workflows, explicit access boundaries and savings that survive an ordinary working week.

Lilith's verdict

OpenAI is watching the owner choose between a spreadsheet, an inbox and ChatGPT on Monday morning. If the program shortens that decision, it earns a place in operations rather than another webinar signup.
