The split between model and agent is also cleaner on a slide than in a real system. Tool use, memory, deployment, evals and security policy affect one another.
The deciding test is who absorbs the bill and incidents
The next signal is simple: how many teams show agentic workflows where models are routed by cost, latency and output quality rather than vendor logo.
The second test will come during incidents. When an agent publishes the wrong site, burns budget or runs an unexpected command, the customer will not call abstract „AI“. They will call the platform that promised control over production.
